Faroese 100-krone

Format 135 mm x 72 mm. Issued 16 January 2003

The motifs
The fragment of a cod on the face of the 100-krone note is printed in intaglio.
The background to the motifs is a watercolour with sea elements. The reverse of the banknote shows a view of Klaksvík, one of the most important Faroese fishing ports.

Watercolour with sea elements by Zacharias Heinesen

The watercolours are by Zacharias Heinesen.

More security
Compared to the 50-krone note issued in 2001, the 100-kronenote has a hologram. With the existing security features - such as a security thread with the colour change and the watermark - this will make Faroese banknotes even more difficult to counterfeit.
